The Time Line

Funny enough the fist game in the The Legend Of Zelda series to be released by Nintendo was called "The Legend of Zelda". Over 20 Legend of Zelda games have been released by Nintendo. However, the first game released was not the first of the Legend of Zelda timeline. Skyward Sword which was released in 2011 for the Wii is actually the first game of the story line and the first to be released falls near the end of the story line.

Evolution of the Hero, Link

Link, the Hero of The Legend of Zelda, has changed quite a bit since the first game was released in 1986 by Nintendo. Since 1986, Nintendo has released over 20 Legend of Zelda Games. There is a Legend of Zelda game for every video game console (Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Game Cube, etc.) and hand held device (GameBoy, GameBoy DS, etc) that Nintendo has released. The legend of Zelda may not be as recognizable as the ever famous Mario, but has a tale of epic proportions all on its own. Link has even made a cameo in the Soul Caliber games made by Bandai, being the only non-Nintendo game to have Link as a character.
